Dynamic Feeds, Inc.
PF Mechanical Feed

The Original Dynamic Feed
The PF Mechanical Feed was the first press feed manufactured and marketed by Dynamic Feeds over 25 years ago. Today, it is still considered one of the best mechanical feeds on the market because of it's simple design and trouble-free service.

Extremely Durable and Versatile
The main frame of the Mechanical Feed is made from high-strength cast aluminum and can be mounted to virtually any kind of press. It is totally powered by the press which means it has few wear parts and requires no additional energy source.

Features
Durable main frame made of high-strength, cast aluminum.
Guide rods are made of hardened and ground shaft steel equipped with linear ball bearings.
Feed rolls with non-reversing bearings grip material only on the forward stroke.
Bottom feedhead roll is mounted on an eccentric to accommodate materials of various thicknesses. Range must vary considerably (approx. 3/16") before adjustment is needed.
Removable handle slides over clutch mechanism for manual hand cycling.
Mounting plate +/- 1" of adjustment (+/- 3" w/ optional mounting plate).
Air brake used on high speed presses prevents rotating disc from over-running when press is stopped.
Benefits
Totally powered by the press. Ensures optimum feed speed. Requires no additional energy to run.
Can be mounted to virtually any type of press, on either side of a mechanical press or on a front-to-back crankshaft press.
Provides years of tireless, uninterrupted service due to low-maintenance design which uses few wear parts.
Provides precision tolerances from .002" to .005" (depending on material and progression rates).
Can be hand cycled to check feed progressions without running the press.
Allows rapid stock changeover with simple adjustments for width, thickness and length.
9 models accommodate material widths up to 26", and lengths up to 10".
Details
The eccentric disk is powered by the crankshaft extension on the press. The adjustable wedge block on the eccentric disk controls the feed stroke, and because it is the last link in the drive train, it assures feed accuracy.
The crossmember, driven by the eccentric disc, works like a piston in an engine. The feedhead on the moving crossmember has nonreversing clutch bearings in the rolls so it can roll on the back stroke and lock on the forward stroke. The stationary feedhead on the front crossmember lets the material pass through but prevents it from backing up.
The PF Mechanical Feed has a removable handle that slides over the clutch system to disengage the feed from the press. This allows the feed to be hand cycled without running the press, or the press to be cycled without moving the feed. The single point of entry on the clutch assures the press and feed are in time when restarted.

Options
Pull-through straightener mounts directly to the back of the feed.
Additional Feedheads enable stock to be gripped on both edges. Available with hardened knurled, chromed, urethane-coated or chromed shot blast  rollers.
Adjustable Mounting Plate has a hydraulic jack for quick, easy feed height adjustment of +/- 3". OBI presses may require the plate to be shimmed from the bolster to clear the leg of the press.
Top Guard shields the moving carriage on the feed. Easy to install and remove. Rear Guard and Roller guards the thrust rod or motor while supporting incoming material with roller. An additional top roller and/or cascade rolls can be added to introduce material into the feed system.
Pilot Release System releases material where camber is a problem or where the pilot can't pull forward due to material softness. Used for very thin (.020" and less) and narrow material.
Dual Grippers are standard on feeds 15" or wider. They are offered as an option on smaller feeds running 5" wide material at .060" or greater. Standard models can accommodate a maximum width of 36".
Tandem Block provides extra pulling power for thick material that is not wide enough to grip on both edges and requires an extra feedhead. This reduces the total amount of feedlength by 1 3/8".
